Sheikh Ali M. Alhamrani (1919 –1976)
Sheikh Ali M. Alhamrani, believed that the growth of the Kingdom’s economy would provide significant opportunities and established the Alhamrani Group of Companies over 50 years ago. His vision was that the Group should use its resources to make a profitable contribution to job creation, economic diversification and natural self-sufficiency.
Sheikh Alhamrani had a clear vision of the central role that the automobile was likely to play in the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 1952 The Saudi Nissan operation was established to become one of the leading suppliers of Nissan automobiles in the Middle East.
In 1960 Sheikh Ali M. Alhamrani envisioned the long-term growth of the Kingdom and established the Alhamrani Trading and Import Co. to acquire the exclusive Nissan dealer franchise for the central province.
During the oil boom of 1970’s Sheikh Alhamrani saw a further opportunity, not only to diversify the Group’s earnings, but also to create jobs locally and produce national substitutes for foreign goods.
In 1974 The Alhamrani Industrial Group opened its first plant in Jeddah offering a complete range of drums manufactured to the most exacting international standards. In 1975 The Alhamrani Company for Industry was established to become a leading manufacturer of the red clay bricks that are widely used in construction throughout the Kingdom.
Today the Group is an independent family-owned conglomerate operating initially under delegated authority but with central strategic and financial control, with operations based around the Kingdom.
Sheikh Ali M. Alhamrani’s faith and determination established the Alhamrani Group and his vision still inspires it today.
